Merry Christmas and Happy 2007!

From December 23 until January 1 I am in Nanaimo for Christmas. I got a month off school so I figured I’d blow a week of it over here on the Island.
It’s been a really nice Christmas. I’ve hung out with some old Island mainstays including my brother Gino our friend Sandy and my grandmother. I’ve also reconnected with some friends who I haven’t seen in a very long time including Nanaimo karaoke legend Bill Bard and my old editor Julie Chadwick.
My brother got me a cell phone for Christmas so at least I’m not trapped in the dark ages anymore. Now you can all get a hold of me when I’m transferring buses, taking a shit or taking a shit on transferring buses. It’s one of those pay as you go things so don’t expect to talk long.
It’s not just all pleasure though. I’ve managed to tie my little trip into work. I’ve asked my editor if I could do a story about Nanaimo and he said yes! I think Xtra West should have a stronger regional focus than it does, specifically, I think the paper should cover gay news from other parts of the province – not just Vancouver. Gay stuff happens all over the place. I’m writing an article about the New Year celebration at the local gay bar.
So, if I haven’t sent you a Christmas greeting let me take this opportunity to wish you a very happy 2007.
