Shortest job ever

Well… the good news and the bad news.

Firstly, the bad news. The manager at IHOP just called me and said “We can’t keep you on, we just don’t have the hours. Sorry it didn’t work out.”

I asked if there was another reason. Did I do something wrong? She assured me that it was strictly about hours. I have no reason to doubt her. Yesterday there were three of us working in the “dish pit” and tomorrow there would be four.

That brings me to the good news: I get to sleep in tomorrow.

Back to the drawing board I go.

I am a resident of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada who has blogged here for 20 years. I like to share my thoughts and feelings on my own online space. From 1998 until 2017 I worked as a journalist and I hope to use this website as an archive for all of my stories.

  1. I wish I could blame the economy for my unemployment… now I have no excuses for my laziness. I love working – I just hate looking for it!

  2. What ever happened to all the employers that are begging for people to work for them? Surely there’s a better job out there for you.

  3. Thanks for all your words of support friends 🙂 I hope Gino keeps us posted on his progress… How will we get 12 people to go along with this? FACEBOOK GROUP!! lol

  4. Fuck IHOP!! When I come to vancouver I am going to flood all the washrooms at the Ihop. I am gonna dine and dash. With 12 people and leave a huge mess. I will not support Ihop. What a lame way to be fired. It happened to me like that as well. Over the phone. Its such a passive way of doing it.
