The best story-teller in British Columbia

Her name is SkeleGirl and she has a podcast about ship wrecks on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. There have been so many ship wrecks on this treacherous coast that it is known to many as the “graveyard of the Pacific”.

Perhaps the most horrific ship wreck was that of the SS Valencia which was wrecked off the coast of Vancouver Island in 1906. The rescue attempts were pathetic and nearly everyone on board died when the ship sank.

Anyways, she can tell the story a hell of a lot better than I. So, enough reading! More listening! And if you are a friend who claims to be supportive of British Columbian culture and history you WILL download this file and listen to it!

I am a resident of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada who has blogged here for 20 years. I like to share my thoughts and feelings on my own online space. From 1998 until 2017 I worked as a journalist and I hope to use this website as an archive for all of my stories.

  1. I hear there is amazing diving off the coast for this reason. I also have heard that it creates a great artificial reef which acts as a protection for us.
