The Adventures of Rosie O’Donnell

Nathaniel Christopher

Before writing articles I was obsessed with comics! Writing them, drawing them and drawing them out into fucked up storylines that crossed boundaries and pissed off locals. The first comic I ever published was “The Adventures of Rosie O’Donnell” which ran in the Nanaimo youth paper, The Mind’s Eye. I was a volunteer with the paper right from the beginning and the first two issues featured my Rosie O’Donnell comics.

I can’t draw skinny people as I draw with circles and bulges. Rosie is very round and therefore easy to draw. I found her show to be boring so I thought I’d spice it up a bit with some crazy little stories about her adventures.

Unfortunately one of the editors objected to me actually using the name “Rosie O’Donnell” in the comic for fear of lawsuits. So the title was accordingly changed to “The Adventures of Rosie O’Connell”. Hmph… I was pretty pissed off about that so I discontinued the comic strip. The third, but as of yet unfinished, instalment featured Rosie’s struggle with going bald.

So, after eight years in the vaults I am slightly embarrassed to present you with the Adventures of Rosie O’Donnell!
