Nathaniel Christopher is a freelance journalist in Vancouver, B.C.
Since 2005 he has worked as a regular news reporter for Xtra (formerly known as Xtra West) where he has covered a wide range of topics which demand a high level of accuracy, clarity and attention to detail including trials at B.C. Supreme Court, hearings at the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, a succession of health conferences and community news events.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Canadian Studies from Trent University in Peterborough, Ont. and a post-graduate journalism certificate from Langara College in Vancouver, B.C.
In addition to articles for print he also produces stories and video content exclusively geared to an Internet audience.
Alongside Xtra, he has written for BC Business, Russian Life and various community publications. He has also produced a 14 documentary for CBC Radio One.
He thrives in high pressure environments and regularly produces informative and well-researched stories on weekly, daily and hourly deadlines for local, regional and national audiences.
Nathaniel began his career in his hometown of Nanaimo, Vancouver Island in 1998 when he was 16. He worked with other young people to found a community youth newspaper which is still going strong to this day. In university he worked as an assistant editor for the campus newspaper and went on to found an ongoing summer newspaper.
He lives in North Burnaby with a housemate and a large grey diabetic cat named Khan.
